IODE-XXVII

The 27th Session of the IODE Committee will be held at UNESCO Headquarters, Paris between 22-24 March 2023 (Room XI).

The Session will be preceded by a 2-day conference "Second International Ocean Data Conference" also at UNESCO HQ (Room XII).

The meeting will be held in presentia only! (no remote participation possible)

   

Venue

The IODE-XXVII session will be held in Room XI in the main UNESCO building. This Room can be found on level -1 when you take the elevators in the main building. You then need to walk down the ramp, then down the corridor next to Room X. 

Seating will be reserved and you will find country/organization name plates on the tables. We will try to keep national representatives together (up to 4). Others will receive seating in the last rows in the room. Microphones for interventions as well as headphones will be available for all participants.  On the first day of the scientific conference (08:30-0900) or on 4th first day of the IODE Session (0830-0930) (if you participate only in IODE-XXVII) participants will be given a badge. This will be essential to enter the building, using the entrance Avenue de Segur. Please do not lose your badge as you will not be able to enter UNESCO. Please also respect the registration time slots as we will only have staff at the entrance during those time slots. If you arrive late you will not be able to get into the building. Signs will be placed inside the building to guide you to the meeting room on level -1 (walk to the elevators in the main building, go to -1 then walk down the ramp, continue left of Room X through the corridor to Room XI). 

  

List of Participants

We expect approximately 175-200 participants. The current list can be found on https://oceanexpert.org/event/3615#participants . As security rules are strict you will not be allowed in the building unless you are on the list of participants. If you are not on the list then please contact us. This is a restricted meeting in which only officially accredited participants are allowed (it is not a public event). 

 

Agenda and Timetable

The provisional timetable is shown below (as on 21 December 2022). As indicated a brief informal meeting with Permanent Delegations to UNESCO of IOC Member States is planned for Wednesday 22 March between 10:45 and 11:30 (which includes the coffee breaks). This will allow national participants to meet with their Permanent Delegations to UNESCO. Meetings of sessional working groups (established under agenda item 2.4) will be possible Wednesday 22 March (after 18:00), Thursday 23 March (between 08:00-09:30 and during the lunch break). These meetings will take place in Rooms VII and VIII (directions will be provided at the meeting).

It will be possible to place a small number of pull-out posters in the corridor and coffee area close to the meeting Room. Social events

We hope to organise a reception for all IODE-XXVII and 2nd International Ocean Data Conference on Tuesday 21 March (the day before the IODE Session). This event will take place in the UNESCO Restaurants on the 7th floor of the UNESCO main building (leaving the elevator on the 7th floor turn right). More information will be provided on this event later. 

Other practical information

You can have lunch at the UNESCO Cafeteria (7th floor, turn left after you come out of the elevator) as from 12:00. You can also take lunch at one of the many restaurants in the UNESCO area but remember you will need to go through security when you return to the UNESCO building.
