After the Covid19 lockdown half March all staff of the IOC Project Office for IODE in Belgium, Australia, Cayman Islands and since April also South Africa, as well as our colleague Francesca Santoro responsible for the IOC Ocean Literacy programme based in Venice, Italy are working from home. In order to keep all activities going we have weekly video conferences (see image). All staff remains reachable by email and we strive to ensure the same response time to your emails as before. 

Ms Lucy Scott has joined the IODE team as Project Manager of the IOC Ocean InfoHub project. Lucy has extensive experience in marine data and information related projects, mostly in the Western Indian Ocean region. She als worked on capacity development activities of international marine projects as well as in GEF International Portfolio Projects in Africa. Furthermore she has been involved in the development and population of the Nairobi Convention Clearinghouse Mechanism; ASCLME node. Lucy will be working from South Africa but will visit the IODE Oostende office regularly. 

Due to the Covid19 outbreak the Ocean InfoHub kickoff meeting (planned 10-12 March 2020) has been postponed to 18-20 May 2020. Depending on the evolution of the virus outbreak more changes in the work plan/time table may be needed. We will of course contact all participants in planned events as needed.

 

The Second Session of the IODE Management Group concluded its work today. Between 27-30 January in Oostende, Belgium the Group reviewed progress of all IODE projects and revised the IODE work plan and budget taking into account new developments as well as funding available for 2020. The summary report is available HERE.

The 7th Session of the IODE Steering Group for the ODINBlackSea project was held at the IOC Project Office for IODE between 18-21 November 2019. In the absence of the Steering Groups' Chair, the Session was Chaired byMr Ihsan Hikmet Ulusal. The Session elected Mr Oleksandr Neprokin (Ukraine) as its new Steering group Chair and project coordinator. The Session reviewed progress of the project during the past inter-sessional period and revised the work plan and budget for 2020. 

 The revised version of the IOC Manuals and Guides "IODE Quality Management Framework for National Oceanographic Data Centres and Associate Data Units" is now available through http://www.iode.org/mg67 

 

 

 

 

The report of the 6th Session of the IODE Steering Group for the International Quality Controlled Ocean Database (IODE-IQuOD) is now available.
