The 25th Session of the IODE Committee will be held in Tokyo, kindly hosted by Japan. As has become tradition the Session will be preceded by a Scientific Conference (http://www.iode.org/iode25_sciconf) . This time the Conference will take 2 days: 18 and 19 February 2019. The main theme will be the UN Decade of Science for Sustainable Development which will be implemented between 2021 and 2030. As one of the goals of the Decade wil be to provide ocean science, data and information to inform policies for a well-functioning ocean, IODE will be expected to play a key role in the Decade. In addition to the decade, the scientific conference will cover themes such as: (i) Regional IODE developments; (ii) Capacity development; (iii) How is IODE collaborating in ongoing major initiatives and activities that may contribute to the UN Decade; (iv) Future of IODE and emerging opportunities including the UN Decade; and (v) Cooperation with Partners (Japan).
