closed projects

The following IODE projects have been closed or have been charged into other projects.

Data citationThe objective of this activity is to promote the ability to "publish" data sets as unique objects and their citation by other researchers as an incentive to improve the data flow to NODCs.

IMAR

Inventory of Marine and Aquatic Repositories (IMAR) is a product developed jointly by IODE and IAMSLIC. It aims at compiling a list of open access e-repositories dealing with publications in aquatic and marine sciences. IMAR can be accessed here.

JCOMMJCOMM is an intergovernmental body of experts that provides the mechanism for international coordination, regulation and management of oceanographic and marine meteorological observing, data management and services systems. IODE collaborates with JCOMM through the JCOMM Data Management Programme Area (DMPA) and its JCOMM/IODE Expert Team on Data Management Practices (ETDMP).

OBIS-ENV-DATA The main objectives of the project "Expanding OBIS with environmental data" are (i) to ensure mixed data sets stay together, (ii) to demonstrate that OBIS nodes, NODCs and ADUs, that hold mixed data sets, can collaborate on the joint management and exchange of biodiversity observation data including environmental measurements, and (iii) to show what the benefit of this approach is for marine sciences, biological analysis and modelling.

IODE OceanDataPortal The objective of the Ocean Data Portal is to facilitate and promote the exchange and dissemination of marine data and services. The ODP will provide seamless access to collections and inventories of marine data from the NODCs in the IODE network and will allow for discovery, evaluation (through visualization and metadata review) and access to data via web services.

IODE OceanKnowledge Platform Pilot Project The OceanKnowledge Platform will offer the user a single access point to various linked IODE information and data products such as researcher profiles, publications, data, learning objects, etc. and will furthermore facilitate social networking between specialized research communities.

OceanPractices The IODE Clearing House Service for Data/Information Management Practices Project will enable research groups that wish to embark on a new project and need to prepare a data management plan, to look for methodology already used by other projects or data/information centres (“best practices”)

The service will be an e-repository of documents and links to related web sites. The service is aimed to promote the use of common methodologies in ocean data and information management and improved interoperability between these systems.

OpenScienceDirectoryAvailable via the Internet at no charge, the Open Science Directory provides developing regions a comprehensive search tool for all open access and special program journal titles. Designed to enhance access to these collections by providing direct links to journals and articles in the EBSCO A-to-Z title database, the Open Science Directory offers immediate access to approximately 13,000 scientific journal titles, with an objective of 20,000 titles midway through development. Among the main open access collections in the Open Science Directory are DOAJ, BioMed Central, HighWire Press and PubMed Central, and special programs HINARI, AGORA and OARE. INASP-PERI and eJDS will be added in the near future.
