The Twentieth Session of the IOC Committee on International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE-XX) is currently being held at the China People’s Palace in Beijing, China, between 4 and 8 May 2009. The event is hosted by the SOA (State Oceanographic Administration) of China. The Deputy Administrator at SOA, Mr Chen Lianzeng, welcomed and officially opened the Session, which is attended by 65 delegates from 35 Member States, 5 international organisations and 3 World Data Centres.
The IODE Committee will, during its 5 day Session, review the work of the past inter-sessional period and discuss on important topics such as the cooperation with OBIS, the progress and way forward of the OceanData Portal and the development of standards in the OceanDataStandard project. The current status and progress of the different ODIN networks will be discussed. The different Groups of Experts will report on their progress and achievements during the inter-sessional period and the Committee will discuss the cooperation with other agencies and organisations.
