1 March 2008: Mr Li Zhanbin has started work at the UNESCO/IOC Project Office.
Mr Zhanbin has been seconded to the Project Office for a period of 1 year, funded jointly by the National Marine Data and Information Service, People's Republic of China and the Government of Flanders (Visiting Experts programme, IOC Project Office for IODE)
Mr Zhanbin is originally from the Province of Shandong (China), where his wife and son
are living. He works as an IT specialist at the National Marine Data and Information Service (NMDIS) in Tianjin, China (140 kilometer southwest of Beijing). Li is specialized in Marine Data Processing, Marine Database Development and Marine Information System Design, especially remote monitoring systems of wind, wa
ves and tides in the Chinese ocean observation network.
Mr Zhanbin will assist the Project Office team with the maintenance and development of new IT infrastructure and technology for oceanographic data management. His combined expertise in IT and oceanography will be much appreciated.
